Environment

“Children are miracles… we must make it our job to create, with reverence and gratitude, a space that is worthy of a miracle.”  – Anita Rui Olds

The environment is not just a place where we live. It is a place that shapes who we are. The spaces we create have the power to cultivate our imagination and empower our sense of what is possible.

When we are born, we begin forming our identity through our interactions with our world. We are influenced greatly by what is around us. For children, the environment literally plays a part in the development their personality. It becomes another parent or teacher.

Sonya works together with families to find the hidden potential in their homes, and educators to develop their classrooms. By making intentional choices, rooms become fields for creativity.

The space where children play not only informs what they do, but how they think and feel. By taking the time to create a well-designed area or play room, we are giving children the opportunity to engage in meaningful experiences and build new knowledge.

Every detail of a space is important, as it communicates a message about who lives there. And that message becomes a part of who we are, whether we realize it or not.  By becoming more aware of what we want to value, we can create incredible environments for children.

As well, environments influence how we interact with one another. The space can strength the relationships of the people who are in it, and inspire them to work creatively and collaboratively.
